For those of you who are just starting out being vegetarian, of course sometimes there is a sense of wanting to taste the delicious meat again. However, don’t waste the efforts you have built. To enjoy meat, you can eat seitan, which tastes and textures similar to meat. Seitan is made of wheat protein. Its bland taste and chewy texture are considered to replace meat consumption. Its low carbohydrate content and even a little fat make it safe for consumption for those of you who are running a diet program. Aside from seitan, if you also want to eat plant-based burgers and sausages, you must go to right away.

Even though it is a healthy food, unfortunately, some people are not allowed to eat seitan. What is meant here are people with the following health problems:

1. Wheat allergy

Seitan is a protein from pure wheat. So, if you are allergic to wheat, you should not try seitan or any dish that uses it as a cooking ingredient.

2. Celiac disease

People who have celiac disease can experience a negative reaction to their immune system when consuming seitan. Therefore, celiac sufferers should choose other gluten-free protein sources.

3, Not suffering from celiac disease, but sensitive to wheat

Although it is not certain, those who experience negative reactions to foods or products containing wheat should avoid consuming seitan. Thus, bad things become more avoidable.

Apart from the three conditions above, people with irritable bowel syndrome also need to pay attention to the body’s reaction that occurs after consuming seitan, although there is no prohibition for that group.

A study says that wheat gluten can increase the risk of intestinal problems, which are prone to leading to the leaky gut syndrome.

So, if you experience flatulence, diarrhea, or other digestive disorders after eating seitan, stop consuming these meat substitutes.

If digestive problems arise after consuming seitan, you can replace them with mushrooms and nuts

So, seitan deserves to be called the meat of the vegetarians. Because it turns out, the nutritional content in it is similar. How, are you interested in trying to consume seitan?
